DoubleButter is the furniture design and manufacturing company of David Larabee and Dexter Thornton. We’re based in Denver, Colorado. Our products are made entirely in Denver and can be ordered directly from this site or by calling us (303-246-5759).

We try to keep component parts for all pieces in our production line in stock and usually ship the finished goods within 4-6 weeks of receiving an order. If we're out of stock of a particular item or simply running behind on production due to order volume, we'll be in touch shortly after your order is placed with an updated lead time. If your order is delayed and you'd like to cancel upon notice of the delay we'll issue a full refund. Shipping costs to any destination in the continental US will be displayed in the checkout process. Delivery in the Denver metro area is free. Call for shipping rates to other destinations.

Our production case goods and dining tables are available in either solid American black walnut, solid white oak, medium density fiberboard (MDF), or forming plywood. The black walnut and white oak are always domestically sourced. The insides of our walnut, white oak and MDF case goods are finished with natural shellac and the outsides with a natural linseed oil and pine-resin varnish blend.

The forming plywood is a typical spruce/pine/fir plywood with a classic-looking edge. The faces of the plywood are coated with a phenolic resin that is highly water resistant. The plywood is normally used and re-used to make concrete forms, hence the name and the hardy coating. We get it from a forming-supply yard down the street from our shop. On our case good carcasses that company’s logo is printed on one side of each sheet and for standard orders we orient the sheets so the logo is on the inside or underside of the piece. However, on request we’ll flip it and face the logo out or up. If you prefer this, just call and ask.

The Roadrunner side chair and Roadrunner stools in wood are available in either solid walnut, solid white oak, or MDF finished with the oil and varnish blend or in forming plywood with the exposed plywood edges finished with an oil-based wipe-on polyurethane.

Swatches of these materials are shown below, left to right as follows: walnut, white oak, MDF, forming plywood. It goes without saying, perhaps, that the walnut and white oak are natural materials and that there is considerable variation within these species. Click through the product photography on this site to see a good representative sample of each.

The optional steel pulls and steel legs of our case goods and our line of steel chairs, benches and stools are powder-coated, a zero-VOC process that is hard wearing and water resistant. We offer 10 standard colors based on the RAL color standard.

These colors are shown below, left to right as follows: cream (RAL 1013), gray (RAL 7043), pastel green (RAL 6019), medium green (RAL 6018), pastel blue (RAL 6034), medium blue (RAL 5012), yellow (RAL 1021), orange (RAL 2003), pink (RAL 3015), and medium red (RAL 2002).

Our line of powder-coated steel seating is uphostered with either brown or black cowhide. The upholstery is affixed with velcro and is thus removable and interchangeable. Cloning notwithstanding, no two cowhides are exactly alike. We try to ensure a good blend of black or brown and white on each finished piece but there will be a fair amount of variability.

Our drawer boxes are made from birch plywood, finished with natural shellac. A swatch is shown below.
